Based on a 2011 study, which involved 12 men taking two 45-minute afternoon naps on different days, either in a traditional bed or in a hammock:

During these naps, the researchers used polysomnography and EEG to study brain activity. They observed that napping in a hammock accelerated the transition from wakefulness to sleep, and also prolonged sleep phase 2 (when the body is in light sleep and preparing to enter deep sleep).
